Record once. SliceStep finds the steps, adds callouts and captions, and exports the result as an interactive guide, a PDF, or a video — without your recording ever leaving your machine to do it.
What it does
- Automatic step detection. SliceStep watches your recording and breaks it into individual steps, so you're not manually slicing a video into screenshots.
- Callouts and annotations. Add on-screen notes, highlight the exact click target, and mark up each step without leaving the app.
- Three export formats. Publish the same guide as an interactive HTML player, a formatted PDF with title and conclusion pages, or a narrated video.
- Honest fallbacks. On canvas-based apps where a precise click target can't be captured, SliceStep says so plainly instead of guessing.
- Checklist view. Guides can double as checklists, with thumbnail previews for quick scanning.
Why it's local-first
Your screen recording is the most sensitive thing SliceStep ever touches — it can contain anything that was on your screen. Processing happens on your machine, and nothing is uploaded to publish or export a guide.
